All good news is good news. People who exist in a state of being damned are still people. Truth is still spoken to them by God and His Kingdom. If they are totally damned, they don’t believe the truth, even if it is spoken to them. But if, at some point, people who have been totally damned as cowardly unbelievers start believing truth… at this point they would no longer be totally damned. They would no longer be totally cowardly. They would be courageous. It is courageous to love truth.
I believe with all my heart that good news is preached to people who are sinners. In fact, I believe that there is no good reason to be a sinner. To be a sinner, you must believe lies. All sinning is based in being deceived. People deceive themselves if they claim that lies are true. There is no excuse for sin in all creation. It is justly punished as a normal consequence that is in the actual ways of nature. God commands people to live in such a way that they love truth. A person who loves truth does good work in loving truth. If a person perseveres in loving truth, they are seeking for glory and honor and immortality… and God renders to them eternal life. I am going to copy Romans 2:4-16 below to illustrate what I am talking about: 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But because [fn] of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who will render to each person according to his deeds: 7 to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; 8 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for [fn] every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God. 12 For all who have sinned without [fn] the Law will also perish without [fn] the Law, and all who have sinned under [fn] the Law will be judged by [fn] the Law; 13 for it is not the hearers of [fn] the Law who are just [fn] before God, but the doers of [fn] the Law will be justified. 14 For when Gentiles who do not have the [fn] Law do instinctively [fn] the things of the Law, these, not having the [fn] Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, 16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. So you can see that if a person is keeping the law and doing accordingly, they are justified. If a person is lawless, they are sinning. To make this point more thoroughly, I will quote 1st John 3:4-10 below: 4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows [fn] Him. 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has [fn] sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born [fn] of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born [fn] of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone [fn] who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother. So, to help people understand that good news is preached to the condemned sinner even in places like Hell, I will reference 1st Peter 3:18-4:6 below. I have many other proofs that good news is preached to those in Hell. I will do a post on this in the future, Lord willing. 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. 1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. So, in summary, good news is preached to the damned, and if they repent into loving truth, they are no longer damned, but are righteous. I also believe that there is a state called “double-mindedness” which is where people love both truth and lies and consequently are both good in part and evil in part. The good part of them is righteous. The evil part of them is sinning and condemned as such. Good news is still preached to them. For emphasis, I am going to add that any believing of any good news is righteous and is rewarded by God. Believing good news is always a righteous thing to do.
